Description

A compact handheld instrument for fiber fault location, OTDR trace analysis and event mapping on G.652 single-mode fiber. The dual-wavelength NK3200D is for dark-fiber OTDR testing only. The single-wavelength NK3200F1 and NK3200F2 support live-fiber OTDR testing under the conditions listed for each version. All three versions have the blue-grey housing shown in the store images, carry Riselink branding, and are priced at US$249 each.

IMPORTANT — LIVE-FIBER SUPPORT DEPENDS ON THE SELECTED VERSION

NK3200D: dark-fiber OTDR testing only. Do not connect fiber carrying an optical signal to its OTDR test input. NK3200F1 and NK3200F2 support live-fiber OTDR testing only under the model-specific signal-wavelength and input-power conditions below.

Suitability and use limitations

  • NK3200D does not support live-fiber OTDR testing. Confirm that the fiber is dark before connecting it to the OTDR test input.
  • NK3200F1 uses a 1310 nm OTDR test wavelength and supports live-signal wavelengths of 1490/1550 nm. NK3200F2 uses a 1550 nm OTDR test wavelength and supports live-signal wavelengths of 1310/1490 nm.
  • For F1 and F2, live-signal input power must be ≤ −2 dBm. Check the signal wavelengths and input power, and follow the supplied model operating instructions before connecting.
  • F1 and F2 are not universal PON or XGS-PON testers. Do not connect to active links with other signal wavelengths or power above the specified input limit.
  • The OPM measurement range applies only to the optical power-meter function and its designated input; it is not the permitted input range for OTDR testing.
  • Match connector type and polish at every optical interface. Do not mate UPC and APC end faces directly.
  • Select the test range, pulse width and any launch/receive fiber required for the link and measurement. Dynamic range and range settings are not guaranteed test distances.
  • Cable tracing requires the compatible external receiver. These cable checks do not replace network cable certification.
  • Do not look into optical output ports or connected fiber ends. Follow the supplied instrument laser-safety instructions.
