Description
The Sumitomo TYPE-FC-8R is a high-precision ribbon fiber cleaver built for 4-, 8- and 12-fiber mass-fusion workflows. A hardened automatic blade mechanism and integrated fiber-chip collection deliver consistently low cleave angles over the life of the blade, preparing ribbon ends for downstream mass-fusion splicers in data-center and backbone builds.

- Cleave angle (typical) ≤ 0.5°
- Cleave length Single fiber with AP-FC7 adapter: 6–20 mm (250 µm coating), 10–20 mm (900 µm coating). Ribbon fiber: 10 mm with a suitable fiber holder and JR-6 hot jacket removal; length depends on fiber preparation method.
- Blade life (typical) 60,000 fibers total (2,500 fibers × 24 blade positions); equivalent to 15,000 / 7,500 / 5,000 cleaves for 4- / 8- / 12-fiber ribbon. Blade life is not guaranteed and varies with operating conditions.
